The Brief – How Human-Centered Design Shaped the Majesty 100 Terrace
Rethinking a bestseller

Working on the Majesty 100 Terrace meant deliberately challenging what “success” should mean for its next iteration. Following collaborations with Gulf Craft on the Majesty 111 and the interiors of the M72 and M65, Phathom was invited to reimagine the Majesty 100, a platform with 17 units delivered over eight years and a strong track record in the charter segment. The brief wasn’t to simply evolve the platform, but to do so without losing what made it work in the first place.

The process started with a human-centered approach: understanding how owners, guests, and crew actually inhabit the yacht over time. The team mapped what already worked, the moments people consistently gravitated toward, the spatial relationships that supported ease of use, where the experience felt naturally intuitive. In parallel, they studied the competitive set not as a stylistic exercise, but to locate unmet needs: gaps in comfort, flow, privacy, and adaptability that could meaningfully improve daily life on board.

The Design Decisions -How Human-Centered Design Shaped the Majesty 100 Terrace
From volume to experience
The transition from a raised pilothouse layout to a full tri-deck configuration became less about scale and more about experience. Added volume isn’t an end in itself, it’s redistributed to support clarity of function and reduce friction in how spaces are used. At 30–35 metres, the Majesty 100 Terrace delivers a spatial generosity typically associated with much larger yachts, without compromising manageability.

A defining decision was organizing the exterior around a sequence of terraces, built on one guiding principle: connection, between guests, and between life on board and the sea itself. The owner’s stateroom opens directly onto a private bow retreat with 270-degree sea views, exclusive to the owner without requiring transition through public areas, a deliberate shift toward autonomy and quiet retreat within the yacht’s social structure. That decision also allowed the team to strategically reallocate a portion of gross tonnage to other guest areas, creating more generous, open interiors across the main and upper decks.

Inside, material choices, natural stone, walnut and oak, brushed brass, soft textiles, aren’t aesthetic overlays but tactile cues designed for comfort over long periods of use. Full-height glazing and overhead skylights maintain visual continuity with the surroundings, reducing the psychological separation between interior and exterior.

Life on Board & The Result – How Human-Centered Design Shaped the Majesty 100 Terrace
Designed for how people actually enjoy every space
On the main deck, the dining area and adjacent sliding openings let the space expand into alfresco dining, supporting both intimate and social configurations without formal reconfiguration. Aft, fold-down balconies and a reconfigurable seating system let the space shift fluidly between dining, lounging, sunbathing, and informal gathering. Even the swim platform and tender garage are treated as an extension of daily life rather than pure technical infrastructure, with secondary seating and adaptable surfaces acknowledging that these transitional zones are often where the most active moments on board happen.

On the upper deck, the same logic continues: sheltered lounging, open-air aft dining, and a foredeck that functions as quiet social territory with uninterrupted views. Each zone allows choice, between exposure and shelter, privacy and gathering, without forcing separation by hierarchy.

Ultimately, the Majesty 100 Terrace isn’t defined by a single spatial idea, but by consistent attention to how people move, pause, and connect within it. One year after its debut at DIBS 2025 and following its European premiere in Cannes, the market’s response has been clear: with three units already delivered and the fourth one already sold, the Majesty 100 Terrace is on track not only to surpass its predecessor’s sales record, but to set a new benchmark for the Majesty brand, a position reinforced by multiple international awards since its launch.
